South Texas State Fair - Opening Day, gates open at 5:30 pm.
The fair features a livestock show and auction, a commercial exhibition, and a carnival midway for the kids.
Concessions are located throughout the fair grounds where you will find barbecue, Tex-Mex, fried alligator and
Cajun foods. There will also be a photo contest, quilt contest, and local school art exhibits. |

Rodeo fans catch all the thrills and spills of Pro Rodeo. The Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) showcases the country’s
top cowboys and cowgirls and promotes high quality, professional level Rodeo. This event brings drama,
excitement and intensity that is inherent in rodeo to Ford Arena. To ensure high standards of Rodeo entertainment,
Jerry Nelson a native of Southeast Texas, will again be providing the stock for the Rodeo. Jerry is the owner
of Frontier Rodeo, which sends many of its stock to the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) as well as to the PBR World
Finals in Las Vegas.
Eight Time World Champion
Don Gay will be providing the play by play. General Admission seating at the Rodeo is FREE with the purchase of a
Fair gate admission ticket on the day of each Rodeo performance. Advance Reserved Seats are on sale now

HEB Kids Fun Zone -- Ford Pavilion
This year the Ford Pavilion will come alive with an all new HEB Kids Fun Zone. There will be carnival
rides special for younger fairgoers along with games and food.
Also located in the HEB Kids Fun Zone will be the Double R Exotics Petting Zoo and Camel Rides.
The Petting Zoo includes nearly every animal you can think of — from the most exotic to the typical farm animal.
Grab a handful of tasty treats and see which animals are hungry. Kids can see up close those species they have
only read about or have seen in the movies. Hand-sanitizing stations are located just outside the petting zoo.
Camel Rides: Come take a ride on a majestic animal that has crossed the world's deserts for hundreds of years.
A camel ride is perfect for each little adventurer to view the carnival atop a camel’s back. Each ride is $5.00.
Pony Rides: Pony rides are perfect for each little cowboy and cowgirl. Beautiful Welsh ponies walk
carousel-style for their young riders. Each ride is $5.00 per child, and photos are available for purchase.
The Southwest Dairy Museum Mobile Classroom will appear at the Fair, on the Ford Pavilion Stage, offering a
demonstration of the mechanical milking process.
Caboodlestoppers Show & Roving Entertainment
The Caboodlestoppers is a non-stop, family friendly comedy spectacular.
The family Caboodle are upbeat, uplifting and uproariously funny. Stilt-walking, Balloon-a-tics, slapstick musical
acts and skits. Bananas the monkey will make an appearance.
Flores Family Thrill Show
You can see a human fly through the air. Watch a woman balance precariously on a swaying pole 65 feet above the ground.
See several motorcyclists drive in a circular steel cage a split second from danger. See a motorcycle maneuver
on a high wire 80 feet above the ground. These are some of the amazing feats the Flores Family Thrill Show
has been entertaining audiences with for years.
The Flores Family Thrill Show has performed on ESPN2, "Extra" entertainment TV, at state fairs,
at amusement parks and numerous other events and venues. The Thrill Show is completely self containted
and includes state-of-the-art lighting, sound and pyrotechnics. Shows can be performed indoors or outside.
It is great family entertainment and breathtaking excitement.
Live Stingray Encounter
This exhibit is hands on. You can learn about Stingrays
as well as other sea creatures while actually touching or feeding them.
